Missouri to Colorado...

So I realize that i have not posted in a while, and should probably do so.
As some of you know, we are on a {long} road trip to visit Madison and Joel in their new home in B.C. Canada. We finally arrived here in Canada Wednesday afternoon,
after leaving our home in MO last Thursday.
We have had such a wonderful trip so far! From visiting friends in Colorado, attending a conference in Colorado, staying at hotels, driving through the Rocky Mountains and quite a few states, Seeing dear old friends in Washington, etc... to *finally* getting to our destination at last and visiting our beloved dear sister and brother-in-law. The Lord is so good.

Here are just a few of our pictures of our trip up to Colorado and travelingness...

(What riding in our van looks like)

("Are we there yet??")

(The first night in CO was spent in a hotel room. The kids were thrilled about the indoor swimming pool!)

(Reece & Lisa's beautiful home in Loveland.
We were blessed to stay with them for our remaining time in CO)

(fun in the snow!)

(Special time of worship on Sunday morning led by these sweet children)

(Getting ready to continue the trip northwest!
We stayed in Colorado three days for the conference, before heading to Washington, and finally, B.C.)

- A quote that a dear friend shared with me the other day,
that means more to me then words could describe.
How good and our  faithful our Father is! -

"He who hath led will lead
All through the wilderness,

He who hath fed will surely feed...

He who hath heard thy cry
Will never close His ear,

He who hath marked thy faintest sigh
Will not forget thy tear

He loveth always, faileth never,
So rest on Him today - forever."

(Amy Carmichael's mother, upon hearing of Amy's call to missions.)

Exactly one week ago.
Exactly a week ago my older sister got married.
Exactly a week ago were last minute dressing, preparing, smiles for the cameras.
Last minute hugs, maybe a few hidden tears.

Can it really have been One week ago?

It seems like ages have passed...
and yet,
Has my big sister, bosom friend, the one my heart holds dear...
has she already been gone a week?

It is hard to grasp.

Even harder to try to get myself to believe, that,
she's not coming home.

She has a new home now.
A new family.
A lover to cling to.

A beautiful new life.

And all I can do is give thanks and continue to stand in awe
at what the Lord has done,
As all these emotions swirl around me, and try to own me.

"This is the Lord's doing; It is marvelous in our eyes."

He has answered my prayer.

A Prayer

My God, My God,

How I need You in this hour.

I am restless, needy, and dried up.

It is a dark, cold, and loneliest of night's.

I need You near,

Side by side,

Hand in hand.

Can You speak to me?

Can I rest?

Can I lay my head upon Your bosom.

And have Your Mighty hand slowly, softly, stroke my hair?

And whisper, "I am near."

That everything will be okay.

"You have no cause, nor need, to fear.

You're not alone,

though often times it seems."

But gently,

"I am near

                I am near.

"Never to leave,

always to stay, close by your own side,

in the night, in the day."

My Jesus, I need You.

I know I am thine own.

Come quickly, Lord

before I perish.

Or drown in this storm.

Come close, draw nigh.

to comfort and bring cheer.

Synne

Really missing my Synne today...

Yesterday Andrew and I dropped her off at the airport in St. Louis for her long flight home to Norway.

It was hard to say goodbye.

We also got to meet up with Ashley & Asa, Joseph, Benny, Michelle, and Tim & Whitney
(Who were also taking Tim & Whitney to the airport for their flight home to BC).

We had a great time together over lunch and coffee before having to say goodbye.

("wait! not ready for a picture yet!")

(AsaBug)

(how I shall miss my Norwegian sister!)

(Smile, for a last picture with Aunt Whitney!)

(SynneDear)

- Forever with each other in our hearts, though we be thousands of miles apart.
 Forever sisters. -

(Our quiet drive home)

You support my lot."

Psalm 16

"The Lord is my portion and my cup;

You support my lot.

The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;

indeed, my inheritance is beautiful to me.

I will bless the Lord who counseled me;

Indeed, my mind instructs me in the night.

I have set the Lord continually before me;

Because He is at my right hand I will not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad

and my glory rejoices;

My flesh also will dwell securely.

For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol;

Nor will You allow Your holy One to undergo decay.

You will make known to me the path of Life;

In Your presence is fullness of joy;

In Your right hand there are pleasures forever."

(Psalm 16)

Me and Sunny

Just having a grand time with my Norwegian bloke Synne. And feeling guilty about not updating my blog for so long. A new post will be coming soon, I promise! So much has been going on in my life recently, and on February 16 (this Saturday), my older sister Madison is getting married! Please be praying for us all as we learn to let go and readjust to life without her in the home. Thanks! And may the Lord bless your evening!

Fill me with Your mercy
drown me in Your grace
Let my heart be filled
with promises and praise
All I need is You
and all that I desire
is to dwell in Your house
all of my days
 Forevermore

There is a more excellent way.
There is a way that leads to life and peace.
And it is possible to love life and see good days.

Oh that man would stop his strivings, stop his vain wanderings
and searching for things that will vanish in a mere breath.
There is so much more.
There is rest and peace and joy abounding, unhindered, everasting.

That man would see that his ways are evil.
That he would not participate in the unfruiful deeds done in darkness.
And come to the Light.

That we would humble ourselves and pray,
confess that we need Him.
There is no other life apart from Him.
Anything in this world that offers peace is counterfeit.
Anything in this world that offers joy is passing.
And all that will ever stand the test of time is Christ alone.

Why waste our time on worthless fools gold?
Why quarrel over stupid things that are passing?

God is sovereign and His ways are just.
And in His way is life and peace more abundantly.
We don't have to go full circle to find Him.
We don't have to waste our whole lives and find out He was waiting
with open arms all along.
We don't have to rack our brains searcing for the mysterious truth.

It's here.
Waiting for us.
Like an undiscovered treasure chest full of gold just waiting to be received.
And this is the purpose that we live.
To live in all that He has given.
So go open up the Word.
Open up your heart.
And drink deeply.
This Well won't run dry.
Because God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.
Not in empty things this world has to offer.
So thanks be to our God.
May He receive all glory forever.
